Ian Schneller, Health Care Service Corporation’s (HCSC) divisional senior vice president and chief information security officer, has been recognized for his outstanding leadership in cybersecurity.
Schneller recently received a 2023 ORBIE Award in the newly created Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) category from Dallas CIO, a peer leadership network of North Texas chief information officers. The achievement underscores Schneller’s success in creating an innovate work environment and maintaining the integrity of sensitive information and systems across HCSC.
“This award recognizes the amazing professionalism of HCSC’s Information Security team, leadership and colleagues who are all unified to protect our members from harm,” Schneller says.
The ORBIE Awards — established in 1998 — honor chief information officers and chief information security officers who demonstrate leadership excellence. Each year, prior award recipients lead an independent review process to select finalists and winners based on leadership and management effectiveness, business value created by technology innovation, and engagement in industry and community endeavors.

As CISO, Schneller manages more than 500 employees and contractors to fulfill the team’s mission to defend, elevate and maintain the security of information across HCSC’s plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
“To deliver a reliable, personalized customer experience for our members, providers, employers and brokers requires a strong cybersecurity environment to minimize risk and protect our data and assets,” wrote Mike Frank, HCSC’s senior vice president and chief operating officer, in Schneller’s nomination letter to Dallas CIO. “Ian’s leadership proactively addresses these needs and establishes the trust required for the enterprise to progress.”
